Easy - Moderate 3-6 hours ↗ 400-900 m

Altfasstal – Großberghütte & Wieserhütte

One of the most beautiful hikes in Meransen leads you into the idyllic Altfasstal valley. The trail starts directly at Bergdiamant and takes you through lush alpine meadows and shady forests into the picturesque high valley.

Route description

  • Start directly from Bergdiamant
  • Through alpine meadows into Altfasstal
  • To Großberghütte (1,640 m) – stop for refreshments
  • Continue to Wieserhütte (1,850 m)
  • Optional: Seefeldspitze (2,717 m) for experienced summit hikers

  • Dreamlike panoramic views of the Dolomites
  • Rustic alpine huts with South Tyrolean specialties
  • Seefeldspitze with a spectacular 360° view
  • Family-friendly up to Großberghütte

Tip: Großberghütte is also easy to reach for families. If you have more stamina, continue to Wieserhütte or take on the challenging summit tour to Seefeldspitze.

Gitschberg – summit experience at 2,500 metres

Gitschberg is Meransen's local mountain and an absolute must for any hiking holiday in South Tyrol. At 2,500 metres altitude, a breathtaking panorama over the entire South Tyrolean mountain world awaits you - from the Dolomites to Ortler.

Route description

  • Start from Bergdiamant to the Gitschberg mountain station
  • Optional: ascent with the Gitschberg cable car
  • Hike across alpine meadows to the summit (2,500 m)
  • Admire the summit cross with 360° panorama
  • Descent via the same route or a circular trail

  • Spectacular 360° view from the summit
  • View of the Dolomites, Zillertal Alps and Ortler
  • Meransen's local mountain - a must!
  • Optional: cable car as ascent support

Tip: Take the cable car for ascent or descent to save energy. At the summit, make sure to allow time for the panorama - on clear days you can see all the way to Grossglockner!

Moserhütte & Kleiner Gitsch

A relaxed hike to the popular Moserhütte and optionally further to Kleiner Gitsch. This tour is ideal for families and leisure hikers who want to experience South Tyrol's alpine world without major effort.

  • Start from Bergdiamant
  • Gentle ascent through alpine meadows
  • To Moserhütte - stop with mountain views
  • Optional: Continue to Kleiner Gitsch
  • Return via the same trail or a circular route
